To provide knowledge and increase interest in the history and impact that Route 66 had and continues to have on Phelps County and the surrounding region.

The “Mother Road” a.k.a. Route 66 was established in 1926, just as the automobile was becoming commonplace in America. It runs 2500 miles from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. This asphalt and concrete road traveled east to west through St. James, Rolla and Doolittle in Phelps County.
